MICKEYMAN & EXTREM - Split LP 1983

The first release of this ultra-rare original Austrian pressing from 1983 shows the debut of two bands from Vienna. Now an extremely cool song from an extremely cool band: "Fress'n, Sauf'n, Scheiss'n, Prunz'n" is the ultimate rejection to the Austrian philistines with their 40-hour week, the obligatory television evening after work and the drunkexcesses around the corner. Austria needs to burn, all right? EXTREM founded already in the summer of 1979 in Vienna and went through a short time with some line-up changes, and Mickey Kodak, alias MICKEYMAN took them and recorded a split LP on their label Rebel. Recorded in July 1983 in the Gaga, the result was probably the harshest and toughest punkrock publication, which had until then spit the steak paradise to light. Oaschloch-Rhetoric in crude Viennese, jagged hardcore punk guitars and drums beating high-speed at the door to madness and say Serwas! I'm ahead of my time..' MICKEYMAN took them and recorded a split LP on his label Rebel. The American punk Magazine "Maximum Rock-N-Roll" reviews: The Extrem side is extreme! Raucous cycloning mayhem from Austria, enough driving power and insistent quickness to hurl you into a venture mega-speed craziness. Savage guitar grinds charge out a brutal slaughter of aggression and combustion, crammed into a wild seizure of raw energy. Extrem escalate with each zooming slice. Mickeyman is Austrian reggae done well, and their punk song is basic and humorous. Don't miss this album! - the Extrem stuff is drastic plastic. - Pushead (from Maximum Rocknroll #14, June 1984) - No wonder he invited them to contribute a song to his now legendary Cleanse The Bacteria compilation in 1985 and this was the first time that an Austrian punk band was released in the U.S. - In 1991 they changed their band name in EAT LEAD and disbanded at the end of the year, finally!

EXTREM - Wir Sind So Frei EP 1987

Solid four track EP by Extrem from Vienna on Durchbruch Records. In 1983 they released a split called Vorheilen Ist Besser Als Beugen together with Mickeyman, recorded in June 1983 and the result is probably the sharpest and hardest punk rock publication of the "Schnitzel Paradise". 'Oaschloch' rhetoric in grossly Viennese, jagged hardcore punk guitars and high-speed drums knock on the door to insanity and say "Servas, I'm ahead of my time." - In other words from Luziprak: "EXTREM is the (international) most famous early HC band from Austria. The formation began in the summer of 1979, and in 1980 the lineup was complete, Helmut "Heiland"[saviour] Hejtmanek, Dieter Hauptmann and Peter Zinner. After some gigs in Vienna and one in Munich, Daniela Delise on the bass was added in 1983. In the same year Michael "Mickey Kodak" Snoj aka. MICKEYMAN recorded with them a limited (200 pieces) split-LP, and after a contribution on an international hardcore compilation in 1985, there was no chance to find this record anymore, as the interests grew world wide. The lyrics where socio-critical, sung in a viennese slang and the sound was very rough and speed-up, a perfect DIY-HC product. In 1984 they also recorded a demo, from which the song "Haus Im 2.Bezirk" [house in the second district] (a brothel) is taken. After Heiland left the band for a solo career, they recorded a 7inch in 1987 and a solo-LP in 1990, both records where much faster an more metal like, but still hardcore." You have to be satisfied with that!

V/A - 1984 The Third 2LP 1987

One of my favorite compilations is the double album by the important French label New Wave Records, who released a small series called 1984 in the Eighties with tons of international bands and every release is a direct hit in my opinion. Also Freunde, Volume 3 was pressed 1500 times and there are thirty-eight bands/songs to discover, plus a detailed booklet with lots of infos and lyrics and and and... I love such loving and detailed slabs because they not only make an impact acoustically, but also visually and I'm certainly not alone there, and on days off like these, the pleasure is doubly pleasant. The only downside is that I have to write so much and don't like to write much. I've already thought about not writing anything anymore, but I don't like that either. What a conflict hahaha... Now I'll open a beer and the subtle reference to Volume 4 (the last part) and the first two will follow... someday!

DIE TOTEN HOSEN - Battle Of The Bands 1985

Out of the ashes of ZK were 1982 formed Die Toten Hosen in Düsseldorf. They enjoy over decades a strong popularity in Germany and they exist for over thirty years and their songs' focus gradually shifted from funny and nonsensical to serious and on this rare 12'' they perform as five different bands. The album is not the best and they don't really like it.. yes even find embarrassing! The songs have been written for the extrem badly "Formula One" movie. This vinyl is not exactly overwhelming but it has a little charm and good humor. Well, when I listen to Opel-Gang or Damenwahl then this slab is quite far away from both. But hey - check for yourselfs!

Es gibt nach langer Zeit wieder mal einen konzert Tipp Für euch, und zwar nächste Woche im Exzess in Frankfurt. 3 mal geballte Ladung Emopunk gepaart mit agressiven Vibes der genau richtig kommt in meinen Zustand. Panza-Platte released with this excellent sampler a colorful bunch of bands and band projects, which Panza and Ronald Fleischmann brought together for this limited editon of 1000 copies compilation. And here we have more punkrock on it and like the "Die Tödlich Dosis" comp. with rare and explosive stuff. Lined with a few live recordings and obscure songs is this LP again a pleasure of early Austrian subculture. Some Bands have also released more records and they are extrem rare nowadays. Get it!!

V/A - Halt Die Ohren Steif! (Rare German Underground 1980-1983)

Und jetzt etwas ganz besonderes und zuerst meinen herzlichen Dank an Loni und Reinhard ohne deren Hilfe diese compilation nicht möglich gewesen wäre. Meine erste Idee war eine Fortsetzung von Smasch BRD doch die verwarf ich schnell weil die Mucke hier nicht vorwiegend Punkrock ist sondern es handelt sich um extrem rare goodies von 7Inches, tapes oder alben die keine Sau kennt, mich eingeschlossen. Als ich die tracks am 24.12. bekam lauschte ich sofort was da kommt und zu meiner überraschung war ich verblüfft welch perlen aus eigenen landen so herum schlummern. Abgesehen von ein zwei liedern kannte ich nix, von daher mußte ich sofort reinhören. Aus den fast über vierzig juwelen hab ich dann diese zweiunddreißig ausgewählt, das artwork gezimmert (meine zeichnerischen aktivitäten in den 90zigern) und Voila! ist somit eine erstaunliche reihe an guter songs entstanden und ich muss sagen absolut hörenswert. Zumindest für jeden von euch der auf German Underground Mucke abfährt. Punk, Wave, Synth-Pop und Rock, alles hier drauf und textlich ebenso stark. Es wäre schön zu wissen wie die Download Gemeinde, Ihr, das dingens findet, dafür gibt's die Comment Section. Somehow I'm now with fast rough extrem hardcore on and I have the right compilation for you. This cassette was released via Nouzui Records and is equipped with thirty-one rare Japanese fight radio plays and as always wacky and freaky, as the people itself. I mean, to create such sound, you must don't have all cups in the closet. I just only look in the mirror and I can see one of them. Can't say much about the bands but most of them made a 7Inch, even an album or on compis represent. Just as well as Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
