KALASHNIKOV - Subversion 1985

Danish four piece that were active in the mid Eighties and consisted of Charlotte (vocals), Henrik (guitars/vocals), Peter (bass/piano/vocals) and Carsten (drums/timpani/vocals). Some might remember them for the brilliant catchy song 'Schlüters Kabinet', their contribution to the P.E.A.C.E. Compilation from 1984 on R Radical RecordsAdded by two other fine pieces, their first EP, Laederhalse, was released on HUB Records the same year, fast paced protest Punk and a great example of the transitional moment from the early '80s anarcho/street Punk towards the sped-up energy of the thrashier Hardcore era that was waiting around the corner. The album came then the following year and was unfortunately a bit weaker than the 7Inch, despite Charlotte's appealing voice but you should find out for yourselfI guess, the band broke up in the same or the following year and in their very short life-span they at least wrote a memorable song.

V/A - Bloodstains Across The World #7 2022

Well it's time for one more Bloodstains Compilation and this one is cheap like the other "from all over the world" (from #3) and kept in a simple CD-R format, but I'm pleased that there are always maniacs who share their things, in contrast to other arrogant Assholes who defame such small people even though they don't know them at all and believe that they contribute a part of underground culture with their so-called professional Compilations (hahaha...), they just have to get their ass kicked and I give them a big Fuck You! I prefer to take these because the originals aren't tangible and I am grateful for this and everyone who thinks the same way will be enthusiastic with this cheap but cool one.

JOHNNY CONCRETE - Come With... EP 1980

Explosive five track EP on Dandelion Records by Johnny Concrete which consisted of Johnny (vocals), Michael & Jan (guitars), S. E. Frogg (bass), Claus (drums) and this record is one of the best releases from Denmark. Every song is a real KBD cracker and shortly after the release the band broke up and Johnny formed Dream Police, who continued to wrote very good songs and made a few records (six to date), but didn't get the rough and powerful sound of this slab, but still worth listening to, and I reckon a twenty song album would be very much sought nowadays. Well, those words say it all, also the Compilations the boys are on should be part of any decent record collection. Do yourself a favour & spend a short time with Johnny.

DEFORMED - Gas Atttack! Without Warning! [Tape] 1982

Now an interesting trio from Århus with a short lifespan, just over a year 1981-2, and Deformed was the baby baptized. They only played a handful of gigs in Århus & Copenhagen. The line-up consisted of Kim (vocals/bass), Bjørn (guitars), Johnny (drums). This tape is their only release and Gas Attack! comes out twice, the second edition has four more songs than this version, why? I don't know and it doesn't matter either; fact is, the three play in a refreshing league of melodic songs that almost lead to the Post-Punk fraction, but also contain short numbers and the whole thing is very varied and surprisingly homogeneous. In 2022 a Compilation (...What Never Was...) was released through No Århus Records that deserves a mention and I need to hear this record, also important to say that drummer Johnny is none other than Johnny Concrete who whipped up a fabulous EP (Come With & I must post this goodie soon) in 1984 and is the only permanent member of Dream Police since the beginning. You'll see, in Deformed is enough potential and definitely not a fart in the Danish subculture and I'm sure their music will turn you on as much as me.

AMDI PETERSENS ARMÉ - Blod Ser Mere Virkeligt Ud På Film EP 2002

Now an older post and I thought this sucker is guest in this program, but false alarm... time for change and here it is: Amdi Petersens Armé is a raw Hardcore combo from Copenhagen and this is their second 7Inch on Havoc Records and six trashy intense goodies were recorded by Amdi Peter (vocals/guitars), Tommas (bass) and Skralle (drums) in March 2002 and if you like early U.S. Hardcore stuff then this is the right shit for your sensitive earsAfter a tour through the USA in summer 2002, they broke up. A few members went on to perform in Gorilla Angreb and No Hope For The KidsFor anyone unfamiliar, APA played early-’80s-style hardcore that got many comparisons to early Minor Threat, though they were always a bit more complex than that, and certainly transcended the harDCore comparisons by the time of their second EP. Interesting to know that in 2013 Hjernespind Records released a Discography which features both EPs plus compi tracks, their demo & some unreleased songs, limited edition of 200 LP's, I take it!

COLA FREAKS - Ingenting Set EP 2008

Second record by this brillant combo from Århus on Hjernespind. Cola Freaks were Mads (vocals), Morten (guitars), Kasper (bass), Jacob (drums) and we listen to three catchy, tough and memorable goodies and if you can't get enough of their sound I recommend their album Cola Freaks from 2010 which is also fantastic. The first press of this EP came in an edition of 1000 copies on black vinyl in four different (blue, red, tan & yellow) sleeves, second press on clear vinyl with blue sleeve. Their music is inspired by '77 Punk and New Wave with Danish lyrics and the songs on this EP were recorded during their US tour in Memphis 2008. And now it's time for me to make some money, ugh!

V/A - Electrocute Your Cock! Vol.1 2021

It's finally starting today, the 2022 World Cup, and I'm a little happy because I'm a big fan of this ball sport, even if it's going to be the most controversial. On the other hand, the following compilation, which you can now enjoy, is not controversial and there is a suitable description for it that sums it all up. "Taking its title from the legendary brainless anthem by Vom, it's not hard to imagine the contents of this compilation. On offer are eighteen tracks of pure, untamed, moronic, KBD-style-Punk in all its glorious rawness. Focusing mainly on the US - but also presenting bands from the UK, Denmark and the Philippines - and spanning the period between 1977 and 1984, this is an absolute must for all Killed By Death enthusiasts. Punkrock done the way it was meant to, shameless, raw and annoying. You know you need it!" That's the way it is folks, maybe there will be a second Volume coming and until then enjoy the frosty sunday with hot lost nuggets.

HUL - Den Danske Ungdom... 2001

Danish Dynamite from Copenhagen by HUL and the line-up consisted of Kasper (vocals), Morton (guitars), Mads (bass), Morten (drums) and their only album came out via 9 Lives Records in an edition of 500 copies. An apt review from the 2009 re-release: "Pre Amdi Petersens Armé, Young Wasteners, and No Hope For The Kids, etc… and this is the crème de la crème. Den Danske Ungdom is an impeccable record and it’s a desert island pick for sure. This record is a beast, from the first drop of the needle your hit with a wave of fervid urgency and power, that first guitar lick forever etched into one’s brain. The vocals are so pure and honest with such youthful vigor and abhorrence with every squeak and prepubescent crack being utter hardcore perfection. The songs so original/memorable you’ll want to flip this record over and over again until you’ve retained all its beauty; how often is the first record or output by a group of kids this accomplished? I’m writing all this now without having listened to it in over a week. It’s just one of those records that is an instant classic, a true rarity in today’s saturated heap of terrible to mediocre records. What I’m saying is this is a scorched earth policy. I’m putting it on now and am set to explode. Pick Your King of a new generation? You bet." (Hjernespind Records)

V/A - Rot In Hell 1984

Ei Di Weil, let's stay in an enjoyable mood and come to a compilation from my favorite British label Rot Records. In its short-lived tenure, they've released amazing records, including half a dozen compis, and to date none have disappointed me. On the one hand, this is due to bands that sent their demos there and can the songs therefore only be found there, and on the other hand to the unknown status of them. This healthy combination is daring and far from geared towards sales, also limited, I guess 1000 copies were pressed. Even Step-1 Music liked this stuff and re-released it on CD in 1996. A record deal then jumped out for some bands and became better known a little beyond their latitude. Rot In Hell is full with splendid music, as it should be for a little D.I.Y. label and you will like it.

1.Annihilator - OUT OF ORDER
2.The Fugitive - OVERDOSE
3.Emmerdale Farm - THE FILTH
4.Shall We Shan't We? - NO CONCERN

FRESHLY RIOTS - Perhaps Demo 1982

Yeah Yeah Yeah, this record blows you off your couch and is an absolute must for demo fans, and the Vikings are always welcome in my castleI'm talking about Freshly Riots, a five piece founded in the brisk 1980 in Gedsted (North Jutland) and Perhaps is their second demo which was originally released on their Bondeskiver Records. The American label Queer Pills thought, it would be good for us to recall these valuable and rough recordings and so this fantastic record was created in an edition of 500 copies, thereof 100 in gray vinyl. A short official description: "Awesome dissonant music with elements of raw chaotic 60s garage psych. Instantly familiar and catchy but also dark and ominous and weirdly chaotic and unnerving." That's exactly right I would say. Their first EP followed in the same year and then their famous Hope album (1984), which had a different, more wavy sound but without losing their Punk roots. By mid-1984 they shortened their name to FRESHLY and a demo with two songs (both on Rot Records' Rot In Hell compilation, coming soon) came then in 1985. A year later their last big experiment Air (Quoth She) followed, on which they appear in a completely different guise and then at some point they broke up to merge into other bands. What remains, one of the best combos from Denmark and always worth a short break.

- Great Thx to Fredrik -

V/A - 1984 The Third 2LP 1987

One of my favorite compilations is the double album by the important French label New Wave Records, who released a small series called 1984 in the Eighties with tons of international bands and every release is a direct hit in my opinion. Also Freunde, Volume 3 was pressed 1500 times and there are thirty-eight bands/songs to discover, plus a detailed booklet with lots of infos and lyrics and and and... I love such loving and detailed slabs because they not only make an impact acoustically, but also visually and I'm certainly not alone there, and on days off like these, the pleasure is doubly pleasant. The only downside is that I have to write so much and don't like to write much. I've already thought about not writing anything anymore, but I don't like that either. What a conflict hahaha... Now I'll open a beer and the subtle reference to Volume 4 (the last part) and the first two will follow... someday!

L.U.L.L. - The Highest Wall 1987

Tonight is a historic moment, SGE is playing against Barcelona and I can't wait, but before we start, a little trip north. The debut album by this Danish late 80's Punx called L.U.L.L. (short for "Leben Und Leben Lassen") and the band consisted of Kent (vocals), Lars (guitars), Niller (bass), Andreas (drums) and this album was released via Starving Missile and features ten loud very guitar-heavy numbers. I'm a little drunk and really can't write anything sensible. A second album (Freakline) followed in 1989 and I think shortly after that the band was history. Now I need to collect myself and stay upright, the week has been tough and for all who likes loud stuff, this album is sure a treat.

V/A - P.E.A.C.E. Compilation 2LP 1984

I don't think this excellent release in form of a double record set can be more topical, and as we all have to realize, mankind hasn't gotten any wiser even after almost forty years. There is always some aggressor somewhere who expresses its sick ideology with lies and blind helpers and it is appalling that no diplomacy, no system, and no sensible compromise can prevent a violent confrontationPathetic, disappointing & lifeless all the pursuit of power and heroism. About the record: "This massive international Hardcore/Punk compilation features fifty-five bands/songs and was organized and released by the infamous MDC on the band's own label R Radical Records. The worldwide hardcore scene was at its peak at this point, still underground enough to repel corrupting outside influences like major labels and heavy metal, but already hardened into a rigid aesthetic and political dogma that often encouraged groupthink and musical conformity. P.E.A.C.E. documents the state of "Reagan-era" Hardcore, just before the popularity of extreme music spread through decidedly non-radical camps and into the mainstream. Among the fifty-five bands on board are well-known plus the best tracks by courtesy of obscure groups of the local scenes from Argentina, South Africa to Japan. Most of the bands included retain, either through design or some bizarre quirk of ineptitude, a stamp of individuality on their sound that makes this an entertaining collection.

An extensive booklet insert is packed with political rants, cartoons, and suggestions for further reading, making explicit the double-LP's theme of activism and action against a corrupt authority. Plus, each band is provided with a full page to express their ideas (and plug their wares) with printed lyrics and crudely effective collage art. Reissued on CD in 1997 by New Red Archives with bonus cuts." (Fred Beldin) - A real highlight of an international gathering that shows how it can work.

KLICHÉ - Supertanker 1980

Debut by this Danish New Wave band (1977-1985) from Aarhus on Medley Records that turns out to be a pleasant surprise and relief for tired ears. Energeric, screaming, a hopping bass, shrill guitar and cynical synth influence, with that catchy and upbeat sound Kliché hit perfectly the nerve of the early New Wave phase, artistically & versatile which they continue to expand and refine on their second longplayer Okay Okay BoysThe band has released two albums and a few singles in their eight years of activity and a few sampler contributions also jumped out. Well, what does humanity need? I tell you: relaxed music for relaxed people, far away from the madness of tense horror news and with this record they have their chance.

V/A - Beautiful Music For Beautiful People 10'' 1990

A tasty 10Inch compilation from Amity Records which was released in seven versions. Ten bands from every corner of the world show their skills to the best and their sound varies from solid punk pieces with a slight metallic hardcore touch. Some of them are well-known and some of the rest are only here. Comes with a decent booklet that is unfortunately missing, anyone useful scans for me? In short, thirty minutes of interesting music whose time you can take without regrets.

THE PIN-UPS - Take One 1981

Ahhhhhh, so pleasant to have a day off and the weekend already started with five Weizenbier, I am now delighting you with a combo, probably from Copenhagen, with their only album which came out via Harlekin Records. We're talking about the Pin-Ups and they were Katrine (vocals), Kim (vocals/guitars), Carsten (bass/lead guitar), Niels (drums/keys). The band debuted at Saltlageret in September 1980, where they played a warm-up for the Warm Guns. They were also guets on the Generational event JETZT!! gig '80 in Huset in Magstræde and a selection of concerts in Rockmaskinen, including along with No Knox and Before. The band's last performance was on October 26, 1983 for a concert in the Radio House, which was recorded and broadcast on DR P3 in November 1983 (which I unfortunately don't have). But Oh, I can promise you, this is top material, a healthy mix of new wave and punk, with female vocals and great mid-tempo goodies, completely unknown to me until now and grateful to rediscover them and I know, you fuckers will like the album.

- Great Thx to Nolti -

HEATFARM - Hævn Over Skøgen EP 1997

Jetzt ein kurzer Besuch Richtung Norden und dort treffen wir auf Heatfarm, a four piece from Copenhagen and consisted of Mads (vocals/bass), Brille & Klavs (guitars), Matthias (drums) and founded around the mid-90s, I think. This is already their third single with three songs and came out in white vinyl via Grammofonpladeselskabet Rocky2, their own label. They play decent melodic songs, but not the Californian variety, rather a weird mixture of ass-kickin' and lalala sounds, scrubbed down nicely, with bizarre to sometimes funny lyrics. I first noticed them from the OX Compilation #31, where they can be found with the title song. Unfortunately, the two other songs on this slab are not as brilliant as the opener and yes, you can do it but on a 7Inch I wouldn't put them on it. Well, that's all I know from Heatfarm, although they made two albums and four singles and I guess the band broke up in the early 2000s.

V/A - Børnepunk 2008

A short trip north to our Danish friends leads us to this amazing compilation, limited to 500 copies, with six bands that unfortunately only made it on this slab and released no or only tapes which were presumably distributed locally only. The baby is called Børnepunk (Childrenpunk) and was released via R98 and seventeen songs in just under thirty minutes embody catchy punkrock with a decent hardcore touch as well as flair and pretension, a very interesting area and I can't spot any weak ones. The only drawback is the short playing time and if it were twice as long, I wouldn't be bored listening. Fazit: short, but crisp and authentic record.

THE RAZOR BLADES & FLERE DØDE PANSERE - Forhadt Ungdom EP 1983

Solid Hardcore stuff from the early 80's on DK Decay Records with the Razor Blades from Glamsbjerg and they were active in 1979-1984 and consisted of Johan (vocals), Gug (guitars), Søren (bass), Martin (drums). They made two 7Inches and a tape in their short lifespan. Two compilations followed in the beginning and middle of the 2000s. Flere Døde Pansere were Bente (vocals), Gug (guitars), Morten (bass), Yrza (drums) and, I guess from this place as well. This band with female vocals only did this split EP. I don't have more infos, but that's enough for a quick post tonight. I received new records and I dedicate myself to them now. Eleven goodies for my favorite day of the week...

YOUNG WASTENERS -s/t EP 2006

Very good band from Copenaghen were the Young Wasteners they consisted of Willy (vocals/guitar), Andy (bass), Las (drums) and in 2002 they made their debut on Aggressive Turns Records/Kick N' Punch Records with ten goodies and was really one of the best from the small neighboring state at the time and were also a lot live on the road. 2006 then their last 7Inch on Hjernespind with four tunes. A tasty review from the label itself: "After the highly acclaimed “We Got Ways” album from 2002, this is the last recording session they did before disbanding. This was originally intended to be an album, but during the recordingsession the band broke up and these songs were the only ones that survived. And thank god for that! Young Wasteners proves again on this record that they were one of the absolute best punk acts in Denmark. This is definately more diverse than the album, but it still comes across as being very intense and powerful. Indeed a worthy testament for a classic K-Town band." Little compilation presence, but one of them the great København I Ruiner with a small, but brilliant overview of the Danish scene at the time.
